Suicide and Intimate Partner Violence - NSW Corrective Services Round Table

I’ve just returned from a round table meeting with Corrective Services NSW, where we had the opportunity to present findings from our recent research on people who perpetrate Intimate Partner Violence and subsequently die by suicide.

One of the most striking findings from our work is that this group may account for nearly 15% of all suicides. It’s a confronting statistic that highlights how closely issues of violence, justice involvement, and suicide prevention can intersect.

It was encouraging to see how seriously Corrective Services NSW are engaging with this evidence and considering how it might inform their responses. Translating research into practice is never simple, but conversations like these are an important step toward better identifying and supporting high-risk groups.
